OGSO plays under the fast-pitch rules and regulations as governed by the Ohio High School Athletic Association as presented by the Amatuer Association and the International Joint Rules Committee on Softball. Exceptions for each age classification are listed below.
Class A (10U) :: 9-10 Girls
Class A is for players of age 9 or 10 whose 9th or 10th birthday is before June 1 of the current year.
- Pitching distance - 35 feet.
- Base distance - 60 feet.
- Full protective helmets with ear flaps, chin straps and face protectors must be worn by all batter/runners. The face protectors must bear the NOCHSI seal.
- No metal spikes of any style are allowed. Metal toe plates are allowed.
- Batter is out on a dropped third strike.
- Five runs per inning limit until last inning.
- Game is over after 5 or more innings or two hours and a team has a lead of ten or more runs.
- Courtesy runners are allowed for the pitcher and catcher.
Class B (12U) :: 11-12 Girls
Class B is for players of age 11 or 12 whose 11th or 12th birthday is before June 1 of the current year.
- Pitching distance - 35 feet.
- Base distance - 60 feet.
